My cake, my beautiful, pretty, girly pink cake…

My beautiful pink cake

My cake, my beautiful, pretty, girly pink cake, iced with a deep layer of fluffy sweet pink buttercream frosting…

My cake, filled with a delicious layer of pink buttercream frosting, strawberry jam and a nice layer of BAKING PARCHMENT :x

My pink cake, with a moist pink sponge filled with pink buttercream and strawberry jam, and a nice layer of BAKING PARCHMENT

HOW COULD I HAVE BEEN SO STUPID?? I even talked aloud to myself as I was getting them out of the pans, “Don’t forget the baking parchment, don’t forget the baking parchment.” So silly, so stupid, SO FUNDAMENTAL. Ugh!

But it did taste nice though, albeit that when we removed the baking parchment from within each slice it managed to drag out the *entire* buttercream-jam filling with it. Ho well, I don’t think I’ll be making that mistake again. And at least baking it got my overwhelming pink cake urge out of my system. Well, at least for a couple of weeks (the colder weather makes me feel bakey).

But it did taste ok. We just had to be careful to remove the layer of baking parchment.

I’m so embarrassed  THANK GOODNESS it was just my family who were the ones to eat it, lol!

Ha ha! Now that’s funny!! It really does look beautiful though, and at least you could pull the paper out.

THat is pretty funny! Oh, the silly baking and cooking mistakes I have made! It is really pretty though!

Oh that’s hilarious!! I’m glad it wasn’t completely ruined, it would’ve been a tragedy given how beautiful it looks! And don’t feel bad - I once roasted a whole chicken with the bag of giblets still in the cavity. Now that’s disgusting. Melted plastic and giblets are surprisingly unappetising.
PS Congrats England! Hope to see you in the finals …

Baking parchment aside, your cake looks lovely and delicious. I’ve had enough baking tragedies to fill a book. But I won’t. There shall be no record of my culinary misdeeds. :)

Hey Nin! I have to say that cake looks so good! Paper or not, I know the cake was made with love! You can share the recipe with me, my friend:+)

BWAHAHAHAHA!! It’s okay to laugh, right? I’m laughing WITH you not AT you! ;) A little parchment never hurt anyone, I bet it was still delicious.

Nin I gave you an award it’s over at my blog you can pick it up there but just bring a piece of cake with you, I’m not fussy, I’ll pick the paper out. ;)

Well…It looks pretty….and you know….paper just adds a bit of fiber to the meal….hehe
I don’t cook much…so havent had much of a chance to mess anythng up….I have burnt pancakes though, and grilled cheese sandwiches…how oh how do you burn something like that???
Thanks so much for the comment on my blog…I finally posted the pictures of what I got that day, along with today’s treasures…which I was very excited about, as well as a super easy, no way you can ruin ‘em peanut butter cookies(which is probably what I like making them?)
BTW welcome to Mary Janes Forum!
cheers,

Oh, Nin, that’s not so bad!! Still edible. I have done many worse things. I made a heart shaped two layer cake for my daughter’s birthday and put the icing on before it cooled and they slide apart. I could only take one layer to her.

Yikes! It’s still very beautiful though! LOL

October 14th, 2007

Ha ha ha! That made me laugh so much! But at least it was still edible, albeit with a bit of culinary surgery to extract the offending item! It looks very, very tasty though :)

Gosh, and award? I really don’t know what to say! Thanks everyone, your comments have made me feel a lot better about the whole AWARD WINNING incident now.

I should have known really. Publicly broadcasting on my blurb that I bake the occasional cake was just asking for trouble!. Here’s hoping that it all works out next time :)

Hmm, I have it somewhere. it’s just a basic cake recipe, and I added a splash of red food colouring to make it pink. I will have a look this weekend and will see what I can do.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi! I found your site while looking for pink cakes too! And I want to make this cake for my daughter’s 3rd bday next weekend. Can I have the recipe? Her party is pink and brown theme.
Thanks!

Hi Addie, it’s just a straightforward sponge cake, and I put a little dash of red colouring in the frosting to make it pink :D
